Deputies to Conduct Spot Sobriety Checkpoints on Area Highways
Deputies from Sumner County Sheriff’s Office will be making an effort this month to locate intoxicated drivers. Checkpoints operated by Deputies will be set up randomly at various locations in Sumner County.
Drivers will be stopped and those suspected of intoxication will be given brief field sobriety tests. Confirmed impaired drivers will be arrested.
According to the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office, efforts will be made not to severely interrupt traffic flow: citizen’s patience and cooperation will assist this important effort. The purpose of the checkpoints is not to harass motorists, but to decrease impaired drivers and make the highways and roads in Sumner County much safer.
